Military Matters

First Wednesdays of the month

Military Matters

Military Matters is a group of people who are concerned about our military members, veterans, and their families and who want to put that concern into action.  In the past, we have filled Christmas stockings to send to deployed military, collected baby items to send to families of deployed military, collected toiletries for veterans and families who stay at Fisher Houses while receiving treatment at either Audie Murphy Veterans Medical Center or the San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Military Matters is kicking off our annual “Warm Feet for Warriors” sock drive starting Easter Sunday.  Any kind of adult size, new socks are needed.  The drive will continue through the last week of May.  These socks will be distributed to deployed service members, hospitalized veterans, and homeless veterans.  Please drop off new sock donation to the parish hall starting Easter Sunday.

We have also sent care packages to deployed military from Ft. Sam Houston and provided child care and meals for one of our own military families during the mom’s deployment.  We seek to keep the military and veterans before the parish of St. Paul’s and the diocese as our longest military action continues in southwest Asia.

To join this group, simply come to a meeting and see what we are up to and if this is a ministry you could be a part of.  We need new members now, since the group has lost some members recently.  Currently we meet on the first Wednesday of the month following the Healing Eucharist—about 1130.  However, the time and day can change to be more convenient for current members.
