Suzanne Purtee, Choirmaster and Organist

  • Graduate of University of Kansas, McGill University, Duke University – music – music history – organ performance – general music & culture studies
  • Have lived and performed overseas, primarily in Germany & England, but also Italy & France (have taken choirs to England twice as well as across US)
  • Specialist in Early Music, instrumental & vocal, and Sacred Choral music from Chant to 21st compositions
  • Soloist and Ensemble Performer on organ, harpsichord, and singer in small choral ensembles
  • Worked with children in auditioned community choirs and many “come as you are” choirs
  • Love to accompany and direct choirs of all shapes, sizes, varieties, backgrounds
  • Started singing as a child (before piano)

  • First official organist job:  Ft. Leonard Wood Chapel (during high school)

  • Causes:  Social Justice, Animal Welfare, Environment
  • Interests: Writing, Hiking, Birding, & to increase my general knowledge in every way possible
  • Hopes: to learn Spanish, to own a small home, to travel regularly, to help someone every day
  • Love to make new friends & have new experiences, (but am ready for permanence and look forward to this in SA)

  • #1 Bucket list item: tour & hike in Alaska  (Montana has been the ultimate to date)
