Adult Forum during Eastertide

Two Adult Forum courses are being offered during Eastertide. They are:

Finding God in Fiction and Fantasy (Sundays, April 3-May 8, 9:15-10:15 am, Parish Hall)

Finding God in Fiction and Fantasy will help us to understand the intent of authors like Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and even J. K. Rowling. Various members of the congregation will facilitate discussion. What, after all, are parables, metaphors and allegories if they are not teaching tools? Jesus used very simple tales to convey very profound truths. The plots of the Narnia stories, or Harry Potter, or the Lord of the Rings are very complex. Are they, too, trying to teach us something about our God and about our human situation?

Beyond “Thoughts and Prayers:” Why Pray? (Sundays, April 3-May 15, 9:15-10:15 am, Library)

An opportunity for us to discuss and discover something of the value and efficacy of prayer. It is not about ‘types’ of prayer. It is about our relationship to God in prayer and what happens when we pray. Fr. Brad, Bp. Hibbs and others will facilitate discussions on God’s will and prayer, the ‘Jesus Prayer,’ Jesus’ own prayers, and what prayer ‘looks like’, among other subjects.

Godly Play and the Nursery run concurrently with Adult Forum so that there is positive care and learning for the children.
